How To Apply

1. Submit your application through Apply Texas (2-3 business days following receipt of your application, you will receive an email from TWU that includes an ID specific to you).
2. Create your Pioneer Portal account. Access it anytime at portal.twu.edu. Pioneer Portal is where you will accept your scholarships and financial aid, register for classes and more. Your Pioneer Portal account must be set up before you can access your TWU Gmail account.
3. Visit the TWU Scholarship System website and click the “Sign In” button at top right of screen; sign in using your Pioneer Portal account information.
4. Complete the scholarship system General Application. After completing this application, the system will list the various scholarship opportunities available to you for which you qualify.
5. Click on the Distinguished Scholars Application, complete the application form indicating the scholar programs you are interested in, and submit as indicated in the scholarship system.
   • Students applying for the Terry Scholarship will also have to complete the Terry Scholarship application information within the Distinguished Scholars Application to be considered as a candidate.
     • Terry applications require 1 letter of recommendation. Make sure you have informed your references of the deadline!

Note: The Distinguished Scholars Application is one application that will offer you the opportunity to be considered for multiple scholar programs. However, all programs have different enrollment deadline dates. This application gives you priority to be considered for all Scholar programs at TWU and is the only opportunity to be considered for the Terry Foundation Scholar Program and Texas Leadership Scholar Program.
