Rodriguez and Stone Receive 2020 Kee Awards

Rosemarie Rodriguez and April Stone recognized

April Stone and Rosemarie Rodriguez are this year's recipients of the S. Janice Kee Continuing Education Award. These $500 awards were established in 1987 by native Texan and TWU alumna Sarah Janice Kee (1908-1998) for graduates who seek financial support for continuing education.

Stone (MLS 2006) is currently a school librarian at Four Points Middle School in Leander ISD. She will use the $500 award to help fund her registration for the Texas Library Association TALL Texans Leadership Development Institute, which has been moved to fall.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez, a 2015 graduate, is currently a Public Services Librarian at Northwest Vista College in San Antonio. She had hoped to use her award for a portion of the costs to attend the American Library Association Annual Conference this summer in Chicago. Since the conference is now virtual, Rodriguez plans to use these funds for another amazing conference in the future.

Both Stone and Rodriguez will be invited to attend and be honored at a future SLIS event since the traditional SLIS alumni reception at the Texas Library Association Annual Conference could not happen this year.
