Bad Weather Info

Bad Weather Information Numbers

For information on campus closings at TWU due to inclement weather, please call 940-898-2000.

If a campus is closed, information about the closure will be posted at the appropriate bad weather information number. If the campus remains open, you will receive a general greeting when you call the number.

Faculty, please give the appropriate number to your students so they also can call about campus closure information.

Campus Access During Emergencies or Closures

TWU generally cancels classes, activities, or suspends normal operations because conditions are hazardous and travel to campus is dangerous. The goal is to limit those that have to travel to and from campus; therefore, the following processes and procedures are in place.

In the event of a “campus closure” with limited campus operations, only those in specific roles/positions have preapproved access to campus. This includes:

  • Snow/ice removal plan operations
  • Campus policing and DPS telecommunications
  • TWU food service provider
  • University Housing Resident Assistant/Resident Director duties
  • Animal facility feeding
  • Central Plant operations
  • FMC emergency services

All others will need clearance through their respective university Vice President, then a safety clearance through the Office of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) in the Department of Risk Management prior to coming to campus. This is an effort to keep employees safe and limit travel to and from campus when there are hazardous conditions in the area.  EHS can be contacted 24/7 at 940-898-4001.

Examples of safety considerations that will be evaluated by EHS include:

  • Safe travel options to and from campus
  • Safe travel plans while on campus
  • Time anticipated on campus
  • Specific job/task hazards caused by inclement weather
