TWU to conduct Spring 2015 commencement May 8-10


DENTON/DALLAS/HOUSTON— The spring 2015 semester at Texas Woman’s University will draw to a close with commencement ceremonies scheduled Friday and Saturday, May 8 and 9 on TWU’s Denton campus and Sunday, May 10 in Houston.

The Denton ceremonies include candidates from TWU’s Dallas Center. Approximately 1,511 degrees will be awarded during the Denton ceremonies. Approximately 271 degrees will be awarded during the Houston ceremony.

Students and family members who have tickets are invited to attend the Denton and Houston ceremonies.

The Denton ceremonies will take place in the Kitty Magee Arena in Pioneer Hall, located on Bell Avenue.

Ceremony 1 is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, May 8. De’Edra Williams, customer success director for and a TWU alumna, will deliver the commencement address. Dr. Claire Sahlin, TWU Cornaro Professor of Women’s Studies, will speak during Ceremony II, scheduled at 1 p.m. Ceremony III will begin at 4 p.m. with Laura Estrada, president and owner of Garza Business Services, Inc., of Dallas and a TWU Distinguished Alumna, addressing the graduates.

Denton Mayor Chris Watts will deliver the commencement address during Ceremony IV, scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, May 9. Ceremony V is scheduled for 1 p.m., with Dr. Jamie Wilson, superintendent of the Denton Independent School District, addressing the graduates.

The Houston ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 10 in the Tudor Fieldhouse at Rice University. Dr. Anne Utech, RD, LD, deputy national director of nutrition and food services for the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs and a TWU alumna, will deliver the commencement address.
