Dr. Noah Lelek headshot

Noah Lelek received a PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies from the University of Missouri in 2012, where he was the Assistant Director for the MU Interactive Theatre Troupe. He also has a BSED in Speech and Theatre Education and a MA in Theatre, both from Missouri State University. Lelek was most recently Assistant Professor of Communication Studies and Theatre Arts at Delta State University, where he was also the Quality Enhancement Plan Coordinator for the University, and created the Diversity in Performance Series. Due to his extensive work with issues of diversity, Lelek received the prestigious Diversity Award for Excellence from the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning.

Lelek most recently directed The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and worked with a theatre company in Chicago creating original musicals with incarcerated youth. He has presented his research at a number of conferences, including international conferences in Hawaii and London, UK. His research and creative interests include performance auto/ethnography, performative writing, adaptation, devising, directing, lighting design, and social justice theatre, 

At TWU, Lelek teaches courses in theatre history, criticism and play analysis, and introduction to theatre.
