Scholars Programs

The Scholar Programs Office provides guidance to students admitted to the university under the President’s Leadership Council and Terry Scholarship Programs. In these programs students will bond with a community of peers who share similar goals to succeed academically and strengthen their leadership skills. 

Notable accomplishments of students in these programs include

  • Texas Woman's University student regents (2016-2017, 2017-2018 and 2018-2019)
  • Student Government Association president (2018-209)
  • Charter members and student organization leaders
  • Orientation leaders
  • Peer Advisors and Resident Assistants
  • Maintain an average cumulative GPA of 3.66

Students admitted to both the President’s Leadership Council and Terry Scholarship (traditional and transfer) Programs have demonstrated leadership in their high school/previous college or community, and high academic achievement.

Eligibility Requirements

President's Leadership Council

  • First-time entering freshman student
  • Rank in the top 15% of your high school graduating class or equivalent academic merit
  • Demonstrated leadership in school and/or community
  • $1,500 scholarship award; renewable for up to four years

Terry Scholarship - Traditional

  • First-time entering freshman student
  • 0 minimum GPA
  • 1130 SAT or 23 ACT
  • Will graduate from a Texas high school or home school program
  • Demonstrated leadership in school and/or community
  • Financial need
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Scholarship awards vary per student- up to the full cost of attendance; renewable for up to four years

Terry Scholarship - Transfer

  • New transfer students (fall start only)
  • 0 minimum GPA with at least 30 transferrable credit hours
  • Demonstrated leadership in school and/or community
  • Financial need
  • At least 20 years of age by May 1 of the application year
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Texas resident since June 2016
  • May not currently attend a Terry-affiliated university
  • May not have previously interviewed for a Terry scholarship
