TWU taps Bauer as provost, executive VP

April 9, 2024 ― DENTON ― Following a national search, Texas Woman’s University Chancellor Carine Feyten has announced Angela Christine Bauer, PhD, has been selected to serve as the executive vice president for academic affairs and provost at Texas Woman’s. She begins her new role on June 1, 2024.

“We are poised for growth with pioneering faculty, new buildings and infrastructure, a comprehensive fundraising campaign, academic program expansion, and a world of possibility to better serve our communities in a modern world,” Feyten said, adding: “so I am delighted we can bring a seasoned academic leader like Dr. Bauer who is equally passionate about our mission and has the experience to help us harness our intellectual gifts for the prosperity of Texas.”

For more than a decade, Bauer served in a number of leadership roles at North Carolina’s High Point University, including senior vice president for academic affairs. She was also the founding dean of the university’s Wanek School of Natural Sciences.

Prior to joining High Point, Bauer was at University of Wisconsin ― Green Bay for 16 years, where she served on faculty, chaired the Human Biology and Women’s and Gender Studies departments and was the special assistant to the provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs.

Bauer earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and neuroscience from Lawrence University in Wisconsin, and a PhD in neuroscience from Northwestern University. She completed postdoctoral studies at Harvard Medical School.
