TWU student uses feminist scholarship, activism to create global change

By the time Esther Ajayi-Lowo earns her doctoral degree from Texas Woman’s University in 2021, she already will have amassed an impressive list of achievements. Since arriving at TWU in 2015 to study multicultural women’s and gender studies, she has received two International Peace Scholarships from the Philanthropic Education Organization (PEO); published a book chapter chronicling the same-sex marriage prohibition act in Nigeria; and presented papers at national conferences on sexuality education, reproductive justice and female genital mutilation— all while balancing her personal commitments as a wife and mother to three young children.

Stephanie M. Lopez-Neyman, R.D.N., M.P.H., a Texas Woman’s University nutrition and food sciences Ph.D. student, will spend the next year developing a community health program through a prestigious Albert Schweitzer Fellowship.

TWU names new information technology chief

Texas Woman’s University officials today announced they have selected an innovative information technology leader as the university’s new associate vice president for technology and chief information officer. Raechelle Clemmons, who has held senior IT positions at higher education institutions in three states, began her technology career at Silicon Valley startups Netline and Digital Impact. She will join TWU August 27.
