Society for Human Resource Management team places second in Division
A student team from Texas Woman’s University placed second in Division 1 at the recent Society for Human Resource Management Student Case Competition and Career Summit held in Houston. The TWU team placed ahead of competitors Baylor University and the University of Houston, and was second to the University of Memphis.
The TWU team members are: Amelia Grimes of Whitesboro, Brenda Villarreal, of Grand Prairie, Becca Bass of Abilene, Jordan Shadrick of Lampasas and Bailey Leal of Rockwall.
Molly Russ, TWU associate professor of management, served as the team’s sponsor.
The team competed in a “realistic job preview” competition, where team members leveraged knowledge acquired through their studies and apply it to a realistic HR situation likely to be encountered in the work world. The team analyzed a business case study and came up with a solution, preparing both a written executive summary and PowerPoint slides to be used for the 15-minute oral presentation at the onsite competition.
The Society for Human Resource Management is the world’s largest human resources professional society, representing 285,000 members in more than 165 countries.
