Oct. 08, 2018–DENTON— The Texas Woman’s University Department of Visual Arts will host its annual John Weinkein Juried Student Art Exhibition Oct. 13-Nov. 16 on TWU’s Denton campus. The exhibition will feature works by current TWU students from the studio arts, graphic design, art education and art history programs.

The exhibition will be on display in TWU’s East|West Galleries, located in the university’s Visual Arts Building. An opening reception and award ceremony will be held 5-7 p.m. Oct. 13. General gallery hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday. The exhibition and reception are both free and open to the public. For additional information, contact gallery coordinator Blake Weld at bweld@twu.edu or 940-898-2533.

This year's event will feature guest juror and TWU alumna Kalee Appleton (MFA ’14), a photography-based artist and assistant professor at Texas Christian University. Appleton will select student artworks for exhibition and award prizes.

The John Weinkein Juried Student Art Exhibition was established in honor of former visual arts department chair John Weinkein, who passed away in 2009. For the past eight years, the exhibition has provided students with an opportunity to exhibit their artwork in a professional gallery to the Denton art community.
