It’s here. A full-fledged Starbucks location has been installed on Texas Woman’s University Denton campus, in the foyer of the Blagg-Huey Library.
TWU’s Starbucks will open for business at 7 a.m. Tuesday, the first day of Spring 2016 classes. Upon its opening, the Baker’s Dozen location in the Student Union, which had been serving selected Starbucks fare, will be repurposed for another use, which currently is under review according to the Department of Dining Services.
The full range of Starbucks menu items will be available at the Library location, including all seasonal items, hot and cold breakfast items, sandwiches, yogurt, fruit as well as prepackaged grab-and-go snacks and bottled beverages.
And, yes, the coffee.
Students and faculty will be able to enjoy a cup (or a Venti, if the situation calls for it) until 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday for late night study or research sessions. On every day of the week except Saturday, the Starbucks will open at the same time as the Library does.
“This is mind-blowing,” said senior psychology major Chloe Terrell. “When I’m at the Library late at night, so many times I’ve wanted a coffee and everything is closed. This gives us something all the big schools have, something we’ve needed.”
A full rundown of the Starbucks hours of operation is listed below. The pricing structure at TWU’s Starbucks will be the same as at every other Starbucks location.
All Starbucks gift cards, rewards programs and the Starbucks app will work at the TWU location, as will TWU dining dollars, credit/debit cards and cash.
Beth Lewis, director of ID systems and contracted auxiliary services said that if needed, the line for the Starbucks would be routed through the Library vestibule, instead of into Library space.
The computer lab that occupied the space inhabited by the Starbucks has been moved to the Library’s second floor outside of the Pioneer Center for Student Excellence.
