Gun Show is an original play created with input from TWU drama students, who worked during the summer and fall semesters to research America’s love, obsession and anxiety with guns and gun culture. The play presents a kaleidoscopic collection of scenes and vignettes that explore our sometimes funny, sometimes ambivalent and sometimes terrifying relationship with guns. Inspired by recent events as well as by the students’ own complex connection with guns, Gun Show is sure to inspire debate. Patrick Bynane, Ph.D., directs this new piece with help from undergraduate student Riley Payne serving as assistant director. Gun Show also will travel abroad to the 2017 Edinburgh International Fringe Festival in August.

The ensemble for Gun Show consists of 11 undergraduate students, including Alandra Baptiste, Nolan Chapa, Aracely Collier, Marridonna Dacres-Perez, Jake Defoore, Selena Marie Flores, Kathryn McGinness, Isabell Moon, Britnee Schoville, John Shults and Alexuss Song, as well as graduate student Erica Cole. Graduate Student Misty Dawn Clark will provide the costume design. Assistant professor Noah Lelek is the lighting designer. Undergraduate student Crystal Paige Phariss will serve as the properties designer and LeeAnn Ducker as the sound designer. Amanda Hackleman and Alicia Dailey are the stage manager and assistant stage manager, respectively.
