Message from Police Chief Elizabeth Pauley Concerning Car Vandalism — Sept. 7, 2016
Dear TWU Community,
At 4:53 a.m. today (Sept. 7, 2016), 4 cars parked in the Lowry Woods Complex on the west side of campus (otherwise known as Library Lot West) were vandalized and had their windows shot out. University Police responded to the call and also contacted the Denton Police Department. While pursuing suspects, a red laser was directed at a university officer and his patrol vehicle was hit with unknown objects, believed to be from a gun. In addition, when the Denton Police Department responded to the situation, an unknown suspect shot out the rear window of a Denton Police patrol unit while the officer was driving northbound on Locust Street.
No one was hurt in this incident. I ask that when it is dark, you walk campus with friends and be vigilant and aware of your surroundings. Please report any suspicious activity to the TWU Police by calling 911. You also may call university police for an escort or use the emergency pole phones located across campus, if needed.
In addition, the TWU Department of Public Safety is on high alert regarding this situation and working closely with the Denton Police Department on the case.
