Profile

Amanda is a Board-Certified Music Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor. While working on her master’s degrees, Amanda gained clinical experience working with a broad range of client populations, including children, adults with intellectual disabilities, older adults, and juvenile offenders in a residential treatment facility. During her music therapy internship, she worked with psychiatric in-patients at Austin State Hospital. Upon completion of her music therapy internship, Amanda began working for Denton County Juvenile Detention as a contract counselor and music therapist where she completed her post-graduate hours towards counseling licensure. Amanda has presented at regional and national music therapy conferences on topics such as the use of rap music with juvenile offenders, and burnout and self-care. In addition to practicing traditional verbal counseling, she has also utilized her music therapy training in her work to provide an integrated music therapy-counseling approach, which harnesses the power of music to support and enhance counseling techniques. Amanda is currently in private practice at Shambhala Wellness Center in Denton, Texas where she provides counseling and music therapy services to adults and adolescents.
