Michael Zanders, PhD, is an assistant professor of music therapy at TWU. He has over 16 years of clinical experience. Areas of clinical specialty include music therapy with children and adolescents, psychiatry, developmental disabilities, music therapy in medical settings, and foster care youth. Currently, he supervises professionals who wish to become licensed counselors in Pennsylvania. He has taught at Temple University and Immaculata University, both in the Philadelphia area.
Zanders has presented both nationally and internationally at conferences and workshops, and has several publications, including chapters in music therapy textbooks. His most recent work can be seen in Qualitative Inquiries in Music Therapy, where he has also served on the editorial board. His current publishing and research interests include: music therapy theory, music psychotherapy, and reflexive qualitative methods.
Zanders is dedicated and committed to the field and practice of music therapy. He is serving on the national committee for music therapy practice with the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) and assists with promoting music therapy where needed.
