In 2008, Kristin Yost founded the Centre for Musical Minds, an innovative and internationally recognized music school in Frisco. She is the author of How I Made $100,000 My First Year as a Piano Teacher and The Mindset of a $100,000 Piano Teacher. Her creativity and business sense at the Centre for Musical Minds are also prominently featured in David Cutler’s The Savvy Music Teacher. An active writer, her articles have appeared in Clavier Companion, American Music Teacher and ComposeCreate.com, as well as several interviews for podcasts based in Australia. Yost is an active, in-demand presenter and speaker throughout the United States, has given presentations in Europe, and continues to look for ways to keep music learning engaging, joyful and an experience you won’t want to miss.
Yost is a veteran teacher with fifteen years experience that gets tremendous results. Her students are known for their creativity, versatility in musical styles, arranging skills and ability to play popular music at a high level. Several of her students have won awards in local singer/songwriter contests, Clavinova Festivals, the National Roland Keyboard Festival and received honors and high scores from The Royal Conservatory Examinations. Yost became a certified teacher through MTNA (NCTM certification) in 2007 and The Royal Conservatory in 2016. She holds a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and M.M. in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Southern Methodist University.
