Rare Books

Housekeepers Domestic Life book.

The Rare Book Collection serves to protect many unique and valuable publications owned by the TWU Libraries. The collection is comprised of more than 75,000 volumes including printed books, pamphlets, and broadsides reflecting an evolving history of collecting at Texas Woman’s University. Since the founding of the collection in the 1930s, collection development has focused on acquiring titles about women’s issues, accomplishments, and history. The Rare Books Collection has developed into a resource for the study of regional, state, and local history about women in Texas and throughout the Southwest with special emphasis on cultural, social, religious, and political histories by and about women. The collection supports advanced research in virtually all fields in the humanities and social sciences. Materials are cataloged in the Libraries online catalog.

Rare books are located in the Woman's Collection vault.
