How To Request Materials from Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service offered by the TWU Libraries that allows TWU students, faculty and staff to borrow items and obtain research materials that TWU does not own from other libraries. Check TWUniversal to be sure we do not already own the material in print, as an e-book, or as a full-text article available through our online databases.
Books, chapters, articles and other materials unavailable in the TWU Libraries may be requested through ILLiad (Interlibrary Loan internet accessible database). Textbooks, reference, non-circulating, media materials, and Houston reserve items may not be requested through ILL.Materials are obtained at no cost whenever possible. In the case where there is a fee to obtain materials, users will be notified via email before charges are incurred. The ILLiad system allows users to track their requests, check due dates, receive electronic documents, and receive email from ILL. A one-time, online registration form must be completed to set up your ILLiad account. All ILL requests must be submitted through an ILLiad account. ILL requests are non-renewable.
Create an ILL account here: ILLiad. Log in using your TWU Portal username and password. Please fill out all required information to ensure successful delivery of materials. Use the name listed in your TWU Portal account as your official name in ILLiad.
Students (Distance Education):
Please indicate your “Preferred Loan Delivery Method” as “Mail to Address."
Students (not Distance Education):
Please use your TWU student ID number (located in your Pioneer Portal) for your “ID Number” when creating an ILLiad account. Your materials will be delivered to your campus for pickup.

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyright material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research". If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
