Health & Wellness
Studies have shown women continue to be at a high risk for heart disease. Since we know heart disease is the number one cause of more deaths in women, our commitment is to raise awareness among women about heart disease and strokes to increase funding for research for the American Heart Association.
We have partnered with the Heart Walk for the past four years. Our team has been one of the top 10 teams in Denton. In 2014 we were awarded the $500 Maurice A. Clay Leadership Development Initiative Grant from the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society.
With so much erroneous information on the internet about dieting and living a healthy lifestyle, the Leadership Institute partners with the departments of health sciences, nutrition and food sciences, psychology and TWU's Institute for Women’s Health to give presentations to our members.
Our members are encouraged to examine their life styles and make appropriate changes as required to lead a rich and rewarding life. Eating a well-balanced diet, sleeping an appropriate number of hours and exercising are key to a healthy life style.
