International Week is the week out of the year that TWU celebrates international students and usually occurs during the month of November before Thanksgiving. The International week includes the following activities:
1. Chrysanthemum Tea
2. TWU's Annual International Festival
3. Study Abroad Information session,
4. Global Interact Thanksgiving Celebration
This TWU tradition begain in the early 1980's. The Chrysanthemum Tea recognizes the TWU international community and educates the community about various cultures.
TWU's Annual International Festival
Originally started by the TWU International Folk Dance Company in 1979, the International Festival has become a tradition at TWU to celebrate diversity and share world cuisine.
When you walk into Hubbard Hall, you will notice aromas which may remind you of home. With a small admission fee, you will enjoy a memorable and fulfilling international culinary experience.
The highlight of the International Festival is the various entertainment by different student groups which showcase their country's culture. TWU Dance Department also provides and shares a variety of authentic dance representations of Ireland, Mexico, Israel, Russia, and other countries. The audience always experiences the opportunity to learn and participate in international dance.
Study Abroad Information Session
The International Education Office sponsors a Study Abroad Information Session and invites various faculty members and approved study abroad organization to display their unique study abroad programs to TWU's students. Another program offered by TWU International Education Office and Global Interact is a taste of Thanksgiving. In conjunction with TWU and UNT, Global Interact provides TWU international students an opportunity to celebrate and experience an American Thanksgiving. The program includes a traditional turkey, dressing, an array of vegetables, breads, rolls and desserts. Members of the Global Interact prepare and serve the food for the event and act as host and hostess.
Also, every spring semester, Global Interact hosts an American picnic at North Lake Park. International students TWU are invited to come and experience a great day of American picnic at the park.
