Admission Requirements for those with an MBA

Students holding an MBA degree and wishing to pursue MHA should provide:

  • Completed application submitted to the graduate school.
  • Evidence of an earned MBA degree with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 out of 4.0 and all transcripts for undergraduate and graduate work;
  • Resume to the HCA department;
  • Three letters of reference to the HCA department; and
  • Statement of your purpose and goals for seeking the MHA degree.

Applicants with an earned MBA from an accredited Business School are not required to take the GRE or GMAT to be considered for admission.

Applicants who hold MBAs from AACSB or AACBP accredited business schools earned within the past 10 years may be able to obtain an MHA degree by completing 36 core hours and 3 hours of electives.  These core hours will provide the student with an in-depth knowledge of health care systems, health law and ethics, health policy, managerial epidemiology and quality measurement in health care.  The 3 hours of electives compliment these courses by providing the opportunity to apply core knowledge to particular health care delivery settings.

Applicants holding MBAs from programs not accredited by AACSB or AACBP may be able to waive certain foundation and core course hours; admitted students will develop a degree plan with their advisor based on analysis of their completed graduate courses
