Pioneer Pride Prep Classes
Classes will be taught by current Pioneer Pride Dancers and Pioneer Pride Director, Allison Fields. Dancers will learn proper warm up and stretch technique, across the floor combos, and a short jazz or hip hop combo. Different routines will be taught at each class. It is not a requirement for candidates to attend the prep workshop, but it is highly recommended.
Visitors may park in the visitor lot off Administration Drive, located in the center of campus, across from the Student Union. Please stop at the information booth in the front of the parking lot in order to get a visitor permit on the Denton Campus.
March 3 and March 10
$25 per class, non-refundable (credit card or cash preferred, make checks payable to TWU Fitness & Recreation. Checks must include drivers license # and date of birth.)
(Pre-registration is not necessary. If you are interested in attending the class but are unable to pre-register, please arrive 30 minutes early with class fee and medical waiver. Dancers will not be allowed to attend the classes without a medical waiver on file.)
Pioneer Pride Director
Allison Fields, Director of the Pioneer Pride Dance Team, began her dance career at the age of four. She trained in tap, ballet, and jazz, and was a two year lieutenant on her high school’s drill team, the Poteet Belles. In 2010 Allison graduated summa cum laude from Texas Woman’s University where she earned her B. A. in Dance. Allison has spent the last five years back in her hometown of Mesquite directing the Poteet Belles. She is excited about the opportunity to bring a new tradition to TWU. Outside of dance Allison enjoys spending time with her amazing husband and their wonderful son.
Pioneer Pride Assistant Coach
Katie McAninch began dancing in the studio when she was four years old. Growing up, she participated and competed heavily in cheer, sport acrobatics, and tumbling/trampoline. She graduated from Cypress Ranch High School in Cypress, TX and danced on the drill team where she was a Jr. Lieutenant and Captain, along with competing in studio dance. She went on to dance at Blinn Junior College for two years, a Captain her second, and then transferred to Stephen F. Austin State University for the following three years, received her degree in Dance Education, and was a member and a Captain of the SFA Dance Teams. In her 5 years of competing, she has won 4 National Championship titles. Katie now is the Assistant Coach of the Pioneer Pride Dance Team, along with taking on going back to school at TWU to earn her Masters of Fine Arts in Dance.
