All registration for Outdoor Adventure trips and clinics takes place Fitness and Recreation front desk. Trips and clinics are only open to TWU students.

Weekly Bike Rides

Meet at the Outdoor Adventure Center every Tuesday August 29th-November 14th. Bring your own bike or we have 8 bikes that are first come first serve!

Coffee with Trip Leaders Event

No registration is necessary for this event! Meet us outside of the Outdoor Adventure Center to have coffee with our trip leaders before class! Here you will have the chance learn about our OAC trips, events, and clinics, as well as the chance to register for them!

Kayaking Trip

If you have never been kayaking before this is a great beginner trip for you! We will spend the morning kayaking 6 miles down the calm Elm Fork River. Here you will learn navigation as well as basic strokes for kayaking. No swimming experience necessary!

Hiking Trip

This three hour hike is on the more strenuous side due to steep hills, but you have the chance to explore caves and waterfalls within the park, as well as have a few overlooks of the Arbuckle Mountains.

Location: Turner Falls, OK

Photo Hike Trip

This two hour hike will give you the chance to spend time outdoors while learning how to take film photos. A camera will be provided for you as well as film, we will even develop the photos for you! No prior photo experience necessary!

Horseback Riding (Frontiers)

Only students who are a part of the Frontiers Program at TWU are eligible to register for this trip. If you are interested in signing up you may contact Sarah Matteson at

Hiking Trip (Dallas Campus)

Only students who take classes at the Dallas Campus are eligible to register for this trip. This trip is perfect for students needing a study break to spend three hours hiking through Marion Samson Park!

Biking Trip (Houston Campus)

Only students who take classes at the Houston Campus are eligible to register for this trip. After a safety briefing students will enjoy a two hour guided tour through the Buffalo Bayou Bike Trail in downtown Houston.

Canoeing Trip

On this trip you will have the opportunity to canoe the Brazos River while also learning some facts and history about the area. No swimming experience is necessary for this trip!

Camping Trip

If you have never been camping before, this beginner camping trip is perfect for you! You will learn the basics of setting up a tent, building a fire, as well as campfire cooking!

Location: Eisenhower State Park

Climbing Trip

This trip is a great introduction to outdoor climbing if you have never been! No climbing experience is necessary. Here you will gain proper introduction and safety briefing to enjoy some climbing at different areas of the State Park.

Paddling Clinic

If you have never been kayaking or canoeing and would like to sign up for one of our paddling trips, this clinic will help you to be more comfortable in the water and learn beforehand what if feels like kayak and canoe!

Campfire Cooking

If you want to plan your own camping trip, but you’re not sure how or what to cook, this clinic will provide you all the tools necessary! In this clinic you will learn the basics of campfire cooking as well as take home some delicious recipes with you.

If you would like to learn how to garden and even take home some seedlings to begin your own garden at home, this clinic will provide you with the skills and knowledge to start gardening on your own!
