2015-2016 Federation Graduate Student Research Symposium

The Federation Graduate Student Research Symposium was held at Texas Womans University on April 8, 2016. This year 57 students presented 54 posters representing 34 different programs across all three universities. New for 2016, a 60” LCD monitor was used to display posters electronically. Five students from the waitlist were able to participate in the symposium using the monitor and will provide feedback as we seek to make the poster presentations more dynamic and allow more students to participate. The poster presentation winners for 2016 are:

Education, Humanities, Social Sciences & Business (HUM)

  • 1st Place - Nelly Shora (A&M-Commerce)
  • 2nd Place - Elizabeth Wachira (TWU)
  • 3rd Place - Lee Bedford (UNT)

Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM)

  • 1st Place - Mearaj Shaikh (UNT)
  • 2nd Place - Jacob McCabe (A&M-Commerce)
  • 3rd Place - Aditya Ayyagari (UNT)

2014-2015 Federation Graduate Student Research Symposium

The Federation Graduate Student Research Symposium was held at Texas Womans University on April 10, 2015. The symposium was open to graduate students in all disciplines from Texas Woman’s University, Texas A&M University-Commerce and the University of North Texas and featured an increase in monetary awards. As a result, 83 students representing 38 disciplines presented a total of 73 posters at the symposium. Poster presentation winners are as follows:

Education, Humanities, Social Sciences and Business

  • 1st Place - Jamie Jones; Rhetoric (TWU)
  • 2nd Place - Leah LaGrone Ochoa; History (A&M-Commerce)
  • 3rd Place - Benjamin Graf; Music Theory (UNT)

Math, Science and Technology category

  • 1st Place - Megan Miller; Biology (A&M-Commerce)
  • 2nd Place (tie) - Aditya Ayyagari & Seth Garrison AND Vedavyas Tungala & Aniket K. Dutt; 
                            Material Science & Engineering (UNT)
  • 3rd Place - Simbarashe Mazambani; Biology (A&M-Commerce)
