Graduate Degree for Educator Leaders

The fourth tier of ELLevate! professional development provides scholarships for five educator leaders from each Denton and Braswell High Schools to complete their Master’s or Doctorate degrees in Education at TWU. Candidates for Tier 4 will be selected from the participants in Tier 3.

Through Tier 4, ELLevate! ensures the continual development of educators to effectively support ELLs' learning, and promotes their role as scholars. In addition to the three courses in Tier 3, Tier 4 educators take at least one other bilingual/ESL education or Reading-related course and one literacy course from the Department of Reading focused on ELLs. Their research class and thesis or dissertation also focuses on a component of educating adolescent ELLs.

Among the programs that the College of Professional Education (COPE) offers are Special Education (Intervention Specialist, Educational Diagnostician or Ph.D.), Curriculum and Instruction, Reading, and Educational Administration.

Benefits

The scholarship that ELLevate! provides to Tier 4 participants includes:

  • Tuition and fees for up to 27 graduate credit hours (est. $13,500)
  • Travel stipend to attend conferences ($1,000)
