Purposeful partnerships make a difference

TWU dental hygiene and occupational therapy students have been working with adults with developmental disabilities, teaching them about oral health and grooming/handwashing practices. Thanks to a partnership with Special Abilities of North Texas, a non-profit organization based in Denton County, these students are getting hands-on experience with people with special needs. Dental hygiene professors Charlene Dickinson and Schelli Stedke and OT faculty Vicky Mason and Debbie Buckingham wrote about this program in an article published in the March 2017 issue of Exceptional Parent Magazine.

This is just one example of how experiential learning programs make a difference for TWU students and the community.
