Bita Payesteh is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at TWU. She has been teaching undergraduate and graduate courses at the university level since 2015 primarily in the areas of diagnostics and assessment and treatment of children with language disorders. Prior to joining the faculty, Dr. Payesteh was a bilingual speech-language pathologist (Persian-English) working with children of all ages (early childhood through high school) with language disorders. Her current line of research is in the areas of bilingual language development and heritage language immersion in typically developing children. Dr. Payesteh is also interested in appropriate and non-biased assessment and intervention for bilingual children with language disorders, preservation of heritage languages, and diversity education for speech-language pathology students.
