Great news about our Student Union

Dear TWU Community:

I am excited to announce that Gov. Greg Abbott has signed TX-SB 596, giving TWU approval to implement a fee increase to fund a new student union on the Denton campus and new student services and amenities in Dallas and Houston.

I want to congratulate the students, who started the process by voting to increase their student union fee as an investment in the future of the university. I also want to thank Rep. Myra Crownover (R-Denton) and Sen. Craig Estes (R-Wichita Falls) for their hard work on the bill and Kevin Cruser, our director of governmental and legislative affairs, for his advocacy on behalf of TWU.

Now we move forward on our plans to build a state-of-the-art student union that will better serve our students, both on-campus students and commuters. As you may know, we plan to renovate and expand Hubbard Hall, adding to the existing TWU tradition by allowing more opportunities for students to become engaged on campus.

Again, my thanks to all who worked together in making the new Student Union possible.
