Message from the Chancellor about Ebola

updated 10-15-14

Dear TWU Community,

I know the news that a health care worker at Texas Presbyterian Hospital Dallas has been diagnosed with Ebola increases your concern for the safety of our students participating in clinical experiences there. I share this concern, and want to assure you that no TWU students or faculty were exposed to the health care worker.

Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas on Sunday closed the hospital to all non-essential personnel, including students. Approximately 90 TWU students have been reassigned to equivalent clinical experiences at other health care facilities with minimal disruption.

My thanks go to the dedicated TWU faculty and to our partner hospitals, including Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas, for making these relocations possible.

If you have further questions about the Ebola virus, I encourage you to visit the Centers for Disease Control website at www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola

Best,

Carine M. Feyten, Ph.D.
Chancellor/President
