Good morning... (Chancellor Feyten's first day at TWU) July 1 2014

Email to the university on Chancellor Feyten's first day at TWU

July 1, 2014

Dear TWU Faculty, Staff, and Students,

"Marking a trail in a pathless wilderness, pressing forward with unswerving courage, she met each situation with a resourcefulness equal to the need..."

The instant I read that sentence inscribed on the statue of the Pioneer Woman, I knew it spoke to the inspiration I had felt to be part of a community that so deeply respects the values underlying that full statement. That 'community' is Texas Woman's University, and today I begin my duties as Chancellor and President. I am deeply honored, humbled, and proud of this opportunity awarded me by our Board of Regents and pledge to you my full commitment to maintain and strengthen those values and our University.

Over the coming days and weeks, I will be visiting every part of all of our campuses and I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible, listening to you, and learning what makes TWU so special. In the meantime, if you see me walking or riding around either the Denton, Dallas, or Houston campus, I'd love it if you would stop me and introduce yourself. By the way, If you happen to see me today after 3 PM (Belgium vs. USA in the World Cup), you will find I’ve probably joined (in spirit at least) every Belgian in the world who will be watching this once in a lifetime soccer match…for me a win-win outcome!!

Thank you for giving me such a warm welcome,

Carine
