What is the Teaching and Learning Symposium (TLS)?

TLS is an annual gathering where instructors share innovative teaching practices in a peer-to-peer environment. Instructors showcase their techniques and experiences through concurrent digital poster sessions. Digital poster sessions foster interactive discussions, idea sharing, and networking interactions among participants.

Call for Proposals!

We invite educators, practitioners, and innovators to submit proposals for the Fall 2024 Teaching and Learning Symposium (TLS). TLS provides a platform for the exchange of innovative ideas and best practices for faculty success in teaching and learning.

TLS aims to showcase effective teaching strategies and transformative practices that empower educators and inspire learners to achieve their full potential. We welcome proposals addressing a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:

• Innovative Teaching Methods
• Assessment and Feedback Strategies
• Active Learning Pedagogies
• Student Engagement and Motivation
• Accessibility and Universal Design for Learning
• Student-Centered Approaches
• Cross-disciplinary Collaboration

Large monitors with sound will be provided for each presentation.

Submission Guidelines:

Presentation format with be digital poster sessions. Presenters will be expected to prepare a 10–12-minute presentation, which will be presented multiple times during an hour. Multiple sessions will occur at the same time in the same room. Participants will be encouraged to engage with multiple presenters during the hour. Due to the nature of the presentation format, presenters are encouraged to develop digital materials for ease of sharing.

Proposals should focus on an educational program or practice which may be adapted and adopted by other instructors.

Preference will be given to proposals that demonstrate creativity, relevance, and potential impact on teaching and learning practices.
