Nov. 30, 2022 – DENTON – Holiday festivals on the Texas Woman's University campus have gone through a few incarnations and themes over the years, but this year's event is a celebration of art and design.

The inaugural Circle of Light, which will take place on Dec. 6, will feature contributions from each of the five divisions of TWU's the School of the Arts and Design.

The Circle of Light begins at 6 p.m. and will take place in and around Pioneer Circle between the Music Building and the Visual Arts Building. The event is open to the public, and all events are free except A Very Merry Concert.

Theatre will perform a poem called A Christmas Carol. This is not the famous tale by Charles Dickens, but rather a 16th-century English poem by George Withers.

The division of Dance will show student screen dances on a 30-foot-square screen near the Ann Stuart Science Complex on the east side of Pioneer Circle. Screen dances are works created for two dimensions rather than the three dimensions of the stage.

Visual Arts has been busy creating inflatable sculptures to display on the Circle of Light grounds, as well as interactive projections shown on the Visual Arts Building.

Fashion Design and Merchandising will create a global exhibit of apparel and artifacts from around the world, and will operate a pop-up shop featuring fashion holiday decor and gifts in the Music Building lobby.

Music will conclude the Circle of Light with the annual A Very Merry Concert in the Margo Jones Performance Hall in the Music Building at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to A Very Merry Concert are $10 general admission, $5 for students and seniors, and free for children under 12. Tickets for the concert are available online and at the door.
