About the Program

Design at TWU

The 2-D and 3-D Design courses in Visual Arts are organized to give students a comprehensive understanding of the foundations of art and art making. They work with varied materials and techniques in the studio and also participate in critiques of the work. Classes incorporate lecture and presentations to show the history and varied uses of design in the development of visual ideas and themes. These courses fulfill TWU Core Curriculum requirements and Visual Arts Core requirements for the BA and BFA degrees.

Global Perspectives in Art

This class looks at artistic traditions, techniques and attitudes from around the world along with the historic and contemporary phenomenon of Globalization. Studio projects inspired from such diverse cultures as the aboriginal people of Australia to contemporary Japan are explored in painting, printmaking, papermaking, bookmaking and textile printing.
