New Endowment created for Visual Arts
The John Weinkein Distinction in the Visual Arts Award Endowment
A new endowment has been created through a generous donation from an anonymous donor for the purpose of recognizing distinction in the visual arts for students participating in the two annual juried student exhibitions held each year. Awards will be given at the Alliance Student Exhibition each Fall semester and the Voertman's Student Exhibition each Spring semester.
The endowment is named in honor of Department Chair John Weinkein, who worked diligently to create an atmosphere of openness and creativity in the Department of Visual Arts and was very supportive of the students and faculty in the Department in their pursuit of excellence in the visual arts. Throughout his career, John was a dedicated artist and educator who gained both the admiration and respect of his students and colleagues.
