TWU Drawing and Painting Alumni Katie Murray is participating in an exhibition titled, "Timeless: Contemporary Configurations".  The show is at Gallery 414 in Ft. Worth and will be up from March 28 - May 3 with an opening reception Saturday, March 28, from 2:00 - 9:00 during Spring Gallery Night.  Congrats Katie!

TWU Photography Alumni, Kalee Appleton has five pieces from her series "Bit Rot" in a group exhibition titled A Flexible Arrangement at Gray Matters Gallery in Dallas, TX.  

TWU Photography Alumni Ashley Whitt has a solo exhibition titled "The Haunted Mind" at the Lillian Bradshaw Gallery located in the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library in Dallas.  The show runs from March 7- march 28th and there will be a closing reception on March 28th from 3-5pm.

TWU Graphic Design professor Jana Perez and two Alumni, Angilee Wilkerson and Mary Kathryn Wimberly are included in the exhibition Levitas: A Photographic Investigation of Weightlessness.  The exhibition is at the Bath House Cultural Center from December 6 - January 31 with a reception on December 6th from 7-9pm. TWU Photography Alumni Sheryl Anaya has works on exhibition in "The View Through the Lens: Capturing Cultural Shifts with the Latino Barrios of Dallas, at the Latino Cultural Center from November 14 - January 3.  Anaya and four other artists were commissioned by the center to document everyday life in Latino-centric neighborhoods.  The exhibition captures a dynamic city constantly shifting into the 21st century.

TWU Alumni Katie Murray and Gallery Coordinator Vance Wingate were accepted into the 2014 "Art in the Metroplex" Works by 33 North Texas artists have been accepted for juried exhibition, which will be on view October 3-30 at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center.  A reception for the artists will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. October 3 at the Arts Center.  An awards ceremony will follow a talk by juror Sara-Jayne Parsons at 6:30 p.m.

Ashley Whitt / MFA Photography Alumni has a photograph included in the 2014 New Texas Talent exhibition on view August 9-30 at Craighead Green Gallery, reception August 9 / 5-8pm. Ashley also has a solo exhibition The Haunted Mind at Eastfield College, August 25 to September 26, opening reception is August 29 / 6:30-8:30pm. Congratulations Ashley!

Three Hoodie Project portraits by Susan Sponsler / MFA Photography Alumni & Creative Director of Marketing and Communication at TWU, have been selected for the 2014 New Texas Talent exhibit on view August 9-30 at Craighead Green Gallery. The group exhibit was curated by Andrea Karnes, curator for the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. The opening reception will be Sat., Aug. 9.

Ross Faircloth / MFA Photography Alumni, has a piece in "Alternate Processes" juried by Christopher James at The Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, CO. Congratulations Ross!
Kristina Smith / MFA Photography Alum has a solo exhibition at the Lillian Bradshaw Gallery / Dallas Public Library-Central Branch/4th Floor. Her exhibit "Evidence of Existence" will be on view July 3 to July 30. Congratulations Kristina!
Arthur Fields / MFA Photography Alum has a work selected for the Texas Photographic Society CellPhone III Exhibition. The juror was Nate Larson. Congratulations Arthur! TWU Alum Shawn Saumell has had a busy month with his work. He was selected as "Director's Choice" at the Viridian Artists Contemporary Art Gallery in New York; is the featured artist in Patron Magazine's Playing Favorites: Best of the Arts issue for June/July; and is in the show Artists vs. Architect at One Arts Plaza in Dallas. Congratulations, Shawn! TWU BFA painting alumni Tim Harding is officially Assistant Professor of Art starting in the Fall at Tarleton State University. Congratulations Tim! TWU Alumni Jessica Pullings / MFA -Painting will have work shown in 'A Common Thread' at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, June 6 to 28. Reception will be June 6th, 6-9pm. BFA Alumnus Jessica Wilson is having her MFA Thesis Exhibition at MainSITE Contemporary Art in Norman, OK. The exhibition is in fulfillment of her degree from the University of Oklahoma and will be April 11 to May 10. More info...

TWU Ceramics Alumni Kate Nelson is exhibiting her work in a Solo Exhibition entitled, It was a Small Country Everyone was Famous.  The exhibition will be on display at Pittsburg State University, at the Porter Hall University Gallery from March 27 - May 2, 2014.

TWU Photography alumni Sheryl David has her solo exhibition, "Coalescence", at the Dallas Public Library.  The work is on the 4th floor in the Lillian Bradshaw Gallery and will be on display from February 2 to the 28 with a closing reception on February 22, from 2-4.

TWU Photography alumni Elva Salinas has her work in Mokah Art Gallery for the group photography show, "We Put This ___ On Everything and You Should Too"  The exhibition is a group photography show and runs January 25 through March 1.  Go to Mokah Gallery for more information.

TWU Alumni Heather Harrison has been given an adjunct position at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in Denver, Colorado

TWU Alumni Michele Mikesell studied painting and graphic design at Texas Woman's University in Denton, TX for her BFA and then completed her MFA at the University of Oklahoma in Norman in 2004. Mikesells work has been continually exhibited throughout the United States in both solo and group shows. Her exhibition at Alan Avery Art Company will be September 21 to October 27, 2012. TWU Visual Arts Alumni Awarded Fulbright!

Please join the Department of Visual Arts and the Department of Women's Studies in congratulating Elizabeth Claffey on her 2012-2013 U.S. Fulbright Fellowship Award for the proposed photographic work, 'Home: Images of Domestic Traditions in Albania'. This fellowship is a full grant awarded by the U.S. Department of State and will provide the opportunity for Elizabeth to travel to Albania and produce imagery that explores current cultural identity and transformation since the transition from Communism, as shaped by women's influences on domestic space. When complete, this body of work will make a tremendous contribution to the discipline of photographic storytelling as a tool for creating international compassion and cultural understanding through artistic expression.

We are grateful to our Visual Arts faculty, Susan kae Grant and Jana Perez, for their guidance with Elizabeth's project proposal and for providing letters of reference. Thanks also go to Dr. Stephen Souris, and the Fulbright Review Committee; Monica Mendez-Grant, Dr. Claire L. Sahlin, Juanita Duenez-Lazo, Jordan Fuchs, and Kyle Voyles, for their support and assistance in reviewing and stewarding Elizabeth's application process.

Elizabeth Claffey received an MFA in Visual Arts from TWU with a concentration in Photography in May 2011. She is currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies at TWU while holding an Adjunct Faculty position in Photography at Boise State University in Boise, Idaho. The members of her graduate committee included; Susan kae Grant, Dr. Christa Downer, Jana Perez, and Mary Kathryn Wimberly.

Elizabeth's photographic book works are currently on view at 23 Sandy Gallery in Portland, Oregon and her creative work has been recognized by Yankee Publishing, PDN Magazine, Project Basho Gallery, as well as national and international galleries and publications including; The Chronicle of Higher Education, USA Today, The Dallas Morning News, and The Kinsey Institute.
