DENTON — Visitors
to Texas Woman’s University’s Web site will notice changes beginning
in mid-September. A new home page (www.twu.edu) and admissions pages are the
first steps in a comprehensive Web site redesign.
This spring, TWU Chancellor
Dr. Ann Stuart endorsed plans for the changes that build on the success of
the existing Web site. Designed to provide a greater focus on recruiting both
undergraduate and graduate students and to serve as a stronger marketing tool
for TWU, the new site was created in collaboration with the university’s
120 webspinners, who are responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of individual
department and office web sites.
“The changes
make the site more reflective of TWU,” said Liz Norell, TWU director
of Web communications. “Visitors should find the site easier to navigate
with the redesign.”
Norell has been working
with TWU webspinners for several months addressing design, content, search
engine optimization and other matters. Faculty, staff, deans, department chairs
and many students also provided input on the redesign.
September’s launch also will include a new virtual campus tour, new
campus maps accessible from one location and a Chancellor On the Move page.
No changes will be made to the Pioneer Portal, which will remain accessible
from the TWU home page.
The Pioneer Portal
allows password-protected access to the TWU network where students can register
for classes; students, faculty and staff can send and receive e-mail; and
faculty and staff can retrieve records.
