Vestal To Begin Duties At TWU On May 1
3/10/03
DENTON The Texas Woman's University Foundation will
underwrite the salary of new TWU Vice President for Institutional
Development Gene Vestal so he can begin work earlier than
planned. Mr. Vestal will begin his duties at TWU on May 1.
Originally, because of budget considerations, he was to begin
work on Sept. 1.
"Private financial support is critical to TWU's continued
excellence in such economic times," said Diane Dwight,
president of the TWU Foundation. "The search committee was
very impressed with Mr. Vestal's experience in fundraising. We
believe exciting things are in store for TWU, and his early
arrival will help the university stay on its current path."
Mr. Vestal has been at the University of North Texas' since
1996, first serving as associate vice president for development
and currently serving as special assistant to the UNT president.
He has more than 20 years experience in fundraising. His previous
experience includes serving as managing partner for First Counsel
Inc., executive director of the Association for Retarded Citizens
(ARC) of Dallas and executive director of the ARC of Greater
Tarrant County. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in English
and history from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark.
"The TWU Foundation's generosity is greatly
appreciated," said Dr. Ann Stuart, TWU chancellor. "The
vice president for institutional development will help Texas
Woman's University sustain its momentum."
