TWU School of the Arts to present evening of entertainment April 9

DENTON — Dinner, dancing and dessert are on the menu as Texas Woman’s University’s Alexandria’s Ragtime Band presents its spring concert at 7 p.m. Friday, April 9.

The coffeehouse-style concert will take place in the Underground Café, located in the TWU Student Union on the southwest corner of Bell Avenue and Administration Drive. Cost of the all-you-can-eat dinner, which includes dessert, is $6.95 plus tax. For those who want dessert only, the cost is $3, tax included. For more information, call (940) 898-2500.

Alexandria’s Ragtime Band, TWU’s jazz ensemble specializing in ragtime and Dixieland idioms of the late 19th and early 20th century American jazz, will be joined by dancers from the TWU International Folk Dance Company. Concertgoers will have the opportunity to join in swing dancing lessons led by Gladys Keeton, TWU associate professor of dance.

Those attending the concert also are invited to view “At Peace with Solitude,” an art exhibit by TWU master’s student Cristen Humphries, on display in the Underground Exhibit Hall.
