TWU Students Earn Awards At Press Association Conference

DENTON — Seven mass communications students at Texas Woman's University and the student newspaper, The Lasso, received honors at the 2002 Texas Intercollegiate Press Association Conference, held March 28-30 in Fort Worth.

• Amanda Sahliyeh of Valley View placed first in Television Advertising;
• Miranda Flanary of Lewisville placed second in Television Newswriting;
• Kari Layes of Princeton placed second in Radio Newswriting;
• Christina Hutzel of Krum placed second in Public Relations Press Release Writing;
• Mindy Cummings of Fort Worth placed third in Public Relations Crisis Management;
• Amber Chesser of Allen received an honorable mention in Television Sports Writing;
• Sally Clement of Era received an honorable mention in Newspaper Design; and
• The Lasso received an honorable mention for a previously published staff editorial.
