TWU Regents Elect New Officers

DENTON The Texas Woman's University Board of Regents
elected Linda Loveless Hughes, M.D., chair and presiding officer
and Delia Reyes vice-chair and assistant presiding officer during
the board's Feb. 28 meeting.
Dr. Hughes, of Dallas, was appointed to the board in 1999 and
served as vice-chair and assistant presiding officer from 2001
until her election as chair. She is a graduate of Denton High
School, the University of Texas at Austin and the University of
Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. She recently was
elected the first woman president of the University of Texas
Southwestern Medical School Alumni Association.
Dr. Hughes practiced psychiatry in Dallas and Plano for 27
years. She is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association
and a board examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and
Neurology.
Ms. Reyes, also appointed to the board in 1999, is president
and CEO of Reyes Consulting Corp. of Dallas which
specializes in corporate strategic planning, community
development, special segment marketing and recruitment of
minorities and women to senior/executive-level positions. She
also is CEO of Adrian Information Strategies, a full-service
market research and information processing firm in Addison.
The first and only woman to chair the United States Hispanic
Chamber of Commerce, Ms. Reyes makes public speaking appearances
to discuss workforce diversity, women and minority business
issues and Hispanic marketing. She was appointed in 1992 by
President George H.W. Bush to the Federal Glass Ceiling
Commission. She was named Hispanic Woman of the Year by the
Mexican American Opportunity Foundation of Los Angeles (1995),
Texas Businesswoman of the Year by the Texas Association of
Minority Business Enterprises (1992) and Female Entrepreneur of
the Year by the Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (1991).
