TWU College of Nursing Moves Into New Home
7/31/02
DENTON The College of Nursing at Texas Woman's
University is scheduled to move into its new home, the recently
renovated Arts and Sciences Building located near the
intersection of Oakland Avenue and Third Street, on Monday, Aug.
5.
A reception to commemorate the opening of the
48,163-square-foot, three-story Arts and Sciences Building will
be held Aug. 22 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The event marks the
completion of the $4.5 million renovation project that began two
years ago.
The Arts and Sciences Building will house faculty and
administrative offices for the TWU College of Nursing, which
averages 1,400 students and is the largest nursing program in the
state of Texas. TWU's nursing program graduates 13 percent of
Texas' new nurses annually, and its students have a first-time
pass rate of 96.9 percent on the nursing licensure exam.
Along with faculty and nursing administrative offices, the
Arts and Sciences Building also contains a nursing lab, 13
classrooms, three seminar rooms, three computer labs, a lecture
room, the Center for Nonlinear Research, a research and reading
room for graduate students and a student lounge with study space.
Classrooms are wired to accommodate high-tech instructional
equipment, which can be controlled from each classroom's lecture
station.
Randall Scott Architects of Dallas is the architect of record
for the project. Constructors Inc. of Dallas is the general
contractor.
