Nursing Faculty Excellence Awards Presented; Alumna Donates $75,000 For Program

DENTON – Three Texas Woman's University College of Nursing instructors have received 2004 Faculty Excellence Awards, funded by a $75,000 gift from a nursing alumna.

Dr. Peggy Mancuso, assistant professor at the Dallas Center, received the Teaching Award. Dr. Sally Northam, associate professor on the Denton campus, received the Service Award. And Dr. Lene Symes, assistant professor at the Houston Center, received the Research/Scholarly Activities Award. Each received $2,500.

Susan Cass Doroghazi, MS, RN, FNP, donated $75,000 to the College of Nursing to be dispersed over the next 10 years to Faculty Excellence Award recipients. She earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing at TWU and currently is a cardiology-cardiovascular nurse at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo., and an adjunct faculty member at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Award recipients, who had to meet a variety of criteria, were selected by the Nursing Faculty Affairs Committee.
