TWU Schedules April Music Events

DENTON — The Texas Woman’s University Department of Music will
present a series of musical events during April. All events are free and open
to the public.
- Dr. Nicki S. Cohen, associate professor of music, and Mr. Gabriel Bita,
adjunct faculty member, will present a joint faculty recital at 8 p.m. Tuesday,
April 15, in the Margo Jones Performance Hall, located at Oakland and Sawyer
streets. Cohen, a lyric soprano, will perform selected pieces by Leonard Bernstein,
Helen Greenberg, Gioachino Rossini and Vincenzo Bellini. Bita will perform
the Piano Sonata Number 3 in B Minor by Frederic Chopin. A reception will
follow the recital.
- Mr. Carlo Pezzimenti, a TWU adjunct faculty member in the Department of
Music, will perform a program by composer Ernesto Garcia de Leon in a guitar
recital scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17 in the Little Chapel-in-the-Woods.
- The TWU Concert Choir and Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Susan Davenport
Stewart, assistant professor of music, will present a concert of Baroque masterpieces
Saturday, April 26, at 8 p.m. in the Margo Jones Performance Hall. The performance
will feature Giovanni Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and selections from Johann
Hasse’s Miserere. Also included on the program are selected solos and
duets from the Baroque era, including works by Vivaldi and J.S. Bach.
