Latin Music and Art Festival Scheduled for Sept. 28

DENTON Latino music, food and art will be the fare at
!Fuego y Alma 2002!, to be held Sept. 28 from 11 a.m. to 10:30
p.m. at Civic Center Park, located at the intersection of Bell
Avenue and McKinney Street. Festival admission is an optional $3
donation. Funds raised will benefit the Fuego y Alma Visual &
Performing Arts Latino Scholarship Fund and the Latino Visiting
Scholars Fund.
Musical styles featured at the festival will include merengue,
salsa, Latin jazz, tejana and Chicano rock. Performers will
include Brave Combo, The Latin Express, Los Jazz Vatos, Bussola
and Kinkajou.
International artists and artisans, reflecting a collection of
Latino cultures, will bring their unique creations to the
festival. A variety of children's activities also are scheduled.

Festival sponsors include Texas Woman's University, the TWU
Office of Intercultural Services, Telefutura, Univision, the
Texas Commission on the Arts, the Denton Record-Chronicle,
the city of Denton, the Denton Parks and Recreation Department
and Mi Casita Mexican Food.
Fuego y Alma Inc. is organized exclusively for charitable and
educational purposes to promote, preserve and enhance the quality
of life through cultural and educational events and social and
advocacy activities targeting Latino communities.
