DENTON — Texas Woman's University will celebrate Homecoming April 18-21 with a variety of events.

A $15 registration fee entitles registrants to Homecoming mementos, admission to softball games and complementary receptions. Some Homecoming events have an additional admission charge. The registration deadline is April 10. For registration information, call the TWU Alumni Office at (940) 898-2586, visit or call the 24-hour information line at (940) 898-2534.

Homecoming highlights will be: the Distinguished Alumni Awards Luncheon honoring Diane Dwight of Spicewood, Alice Ludeman Spencer of Silver Spring, Md., Dr. Kathryn Stripling of Houston and Dr. Kathryn Yandell of Seguin; a book signing by TWU English Professor Phyllis Bridges, who wrote Marking A Trail: The Quest Continues chronicling the first 100 years of TWU; a dinner commemorating the 50th reunion of the Class of 1952; honors for the Class of 1977 on their 25th reunion; and class reunions and dinners for other TWU graduating classes.

The following is a list of Homecoming 2002 events and locations. Admission is complementary with registration, unless otherwise noted.

Thursday, April 18

  • 8 a.m.-5 p.m. — Homecoming registration and Boutique of Collectable Memories, Alumni House
  • 8:45-9:30 a.m. — Heritage Society Coffee, Old Main rotunda
  • All day — 5th Annual Student Research and Creative Arts Symposium, schedule of presentations and locations provided at Homecoming registration
  • 10 a.m. — Honors Convocation, Margo Jones Performance Hall
  • 11:45 a.m. — Scholarship donor and recipient luncheon, Hubbard Hall
  • 11:45 a.m. — University picnic, Pioneer Woman Circle
  • 2:30 p.m. — Department of English, Speech and Foreign Languages honors and awards ceremony, Administration and Conference Tower
  • 5 p.m. — Redbud Student Awards — Hubbard Hall, southeast ballroom
  • 6:30 p.m. — Department of History and Government Awards Banquet, Hubbard Hall, north ballroom, $15 per person
  • 7:15 p.m. — School of Management Spring Banquet, Hubbard Hall, southwest ballroom, $15 per person
  • 7-9 p.m. — Evening events individually scheduled by Honor Classes

Friday, April 19

  • 8 a.m.-4 p.m. — Homecoming registration and Boutique of Collectable Memories, Alumni House
  • 8-9:15 a.m. — Senior breakfast, Hubbard Hall, southeast ballroom, $8 per person
  • 10:30-2:30 p.m. — Visit downtown Denton, busses will leave on the half hour from the front of Alumni House
  • 1 p.m. — Charitable gift planning seminar
  • 1 p.m. — Walking tour of TWU, meets at north entrance to Guinn Hall
  • 1-8:30 p.m. — Silent auction and Boutique of Collectable Memories, Hubbard Hall
  • 2 p.m. — TWU bus tour, meets at north entrance of Guinn Hall
  • 2 p.m. — Kinesiology academic chapter meeting, Pioneer Hall
  • 3-4:30 p.m. — English tea hosted by TWU President Emerita Mary Evelyn Blagg-Huey, Hubbard Hall
  • 4:30-5:15 p.m. — Honor and reunion class photos, Blagg-Huey Library entrance (inclement weather, Hubbard Hall)
  • 5 p.m. — TWU Pioneer Homecoming softball game against Abilene Christian, Pioneer Field
  • 5-6 p.m. — Homecoming registration, Hubbard Hall
  • 6-8 p.m. — Golden Girls dinner, Hubbard Hall, southeast ballroom, $25 per person
  • 9 p.m.-midnight — Pioneer Mixer: Party with the “Greeks,” Hubbard Hall, southwest ballroom, $5 admission with student ID or alumni nametag

Saturday, April 20

  • 8-10 a.m. — Homecoming registration, Alumni House
  • 8:30-11:15 a.m. —TWU National Alumnae Association Annual Business Meeting, Blagg-Huey Library, room 101
  • 10 a.m.-3 p.m. — Homecoming registration, Hubbard Hall
  • 10 a.m.-7 p.m. — Silent Auction and Boutique of Collectable Memories, Hubbard Hall
  • 11 a.m. — Chancellor's private reception for distinguished alumnae, Administration and Conference Tower
  • 11:30 a.m. — Distinguished alumni awards luncheon, Hubbard Hall, southeast ballroom, $20 per person
  • Following luncheon — Marking A Trail: The Quest Continues presentation and book signing by Dr. Phyllis Bridges, Blagg-Huey Library, room 101
  • Following luncheon — National Alumni Association past presidents meeting, Institutional Development solarium
  • 1 p.m. — TWU Pioneer Homecoming softball game against Abilene Christian, Pioneer Field
  • 4:45-6 p.m. — Honor and reunion class photos, Blagg-Huey Library entrance (inclement weather, Hubbard Hall)
  • 5-6 p.m. — Late registration, Hubbard Hall
  • 6 p.m. — An Evening in Paradise Mix and Mingle Reception, Hubbard Hall, Pioneer Room, cash bar
  • 7 p.m. — An Evening in Paradise Class Reunion Dinner, Hubbard Hall, southeast ballroom, $28

Sunday, April 21

  • 9 a.m. — Chapel Service-A Last Remembrance, Little Chapel-in-the-Woods
  • Following service — Farewell coffee hosted by TWU Chancellor and President Dr. Ann Stuart, greenhouse
