Alexandria’s, Strictly Dixie Slate Jazz Concert at TWU

DENTON — An evening of traditional jazz is set for 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, as Alexandria’s Ragtime Band and Strictly Dixie team up for a concert in Margo Jones Performance Hall, located at Oakland and Sawyer streets on the Texas Woman’s University Denton campus.

Alexandria’s Ragtime Band is a TWU School of the Arts performing group. The ensemble specializes in late 19th and early 20th century ragtime and Dixieland jazz. The group, which has performed throughout the United States and Europe, is under the direction of TWU professor of music Dr. John W. Flohr.

Strictly Dixie is a Denton community senior citizen group whose members share an interest in performing Dixieland music. The group, led by David Hume, rehearses and performs regularly in the community.
