TWU Faculty To Lecture On El Chamizal

8/26/02

DENTON — Dr. Maria Eugenia Trillo, assistant professor of English, speech and foreign languages at Texas Woman's University, will discuss El Chamizal and the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo between the United States and Mexico on Sept. 19 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the seminar room of the Blagg-Huey Library at Texas Woman's University. The lecture is free and open to the public.

A photographic exhibit of Trillo's ethnographic research project, "El Chamizal — A Living Memory of Transparent Boundaries," remains on display in the library's foyer through Oct. 15.

Also on display in the library's foyer are items collected by Dr. Hugh Burns, chair of the Department of English, Speech and Foreign Languages, during his recent trip to Saudi Arabia as a Fulbright Senior Specialist at the King Abdulaziz and Companions Foundation for the Gifted in Riyahd.
