DENTON Texas Woman's University is offering childcare
workers the opportunity to raise their professional status by
earning Child Development Associate certification.
Registration ends Sept. 3 for the first session in the Child
Development Associate program at TWU and classes begin Sept. 10.
The cost is $150 per session. A reduced fee of $135 per person is
available to groups of three or more from the same center or
agency. Completing three sessions, over the course of a year, is
required for certification. Classes meet once a week during each
14-week session.
For more information or registration, contact the Office of
Lifelong Learning at (940) 898-3408 or (800) 250-7808. For
information about financial assistance, contact Camp Fire Boys
and Girls at (817) 831-2111.
The CDA program provides endorsements for professionals who
care for children from birth through age 5 in childcare centers
and family childcare homes. Texas is one of 46 states that lists
the CDA in its childcare licensing regulations.
CDA students will learn to establish and maintain a safe and
healthy learning environment, advance the physical and
intellectual competence of the children in their care, support
the social and emotional development of children and give
positive guidance, establish positive relationships with families
and ensure a well-run program responsive to participant needs.
Session I will run from Sept. 10 to Dec. 10. Session II begins
Jan. 7, 2003 and ends April 15. Session III starts May 6, 2003
and ends Aug. 5.
