TWU College of Arts and Sciences to mark anniversary of WWII’s
end

The Texas Woman’s University College of Arts and Sciences
will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of World
War II with three faculty presentations in October. All events
are free and open to the public. For more information, call
Dr. Lybeth Hodges, TWU professor of history, at (940) 898-2136.
The first presentation,
“Art and/or War: Dance During World War II,” with
Dr. Janice LaPointe-Crump, is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday,
Oct. 12, in room 205 of the Arts and Sciences Building (ASB).
The building is located on Oakland Street near the intersection
of Third Street.
Dr. Vivian Casper,
associate professor in the Department of English, Speech and
Foreign Language, will present “American Plays on WWII:
Traditional Messages, Then and Now,” at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday,
Oct. 19 in ASB 205.
The final presentation,
scheduled for 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, will feature TWU music
professor Dr. John Flohr with “Music that Kept the Heroes
Humming: Music of the World War II Era.” It will take
place in the Student Union Underground, located on the southwest
corner of the intersection of Bell Avenue and Administration
Drive.
