DENTON — The
works of eight selected Texas Woman’s University painting graduates
will be on display through Nov. 26 in TWU’s Fine Arts Gallery,
located in the Fine Arts Building at Texas and Oakland streets. Gallery
hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
A reception for the exhibition,
titled “Alumni Painting,” will be held from 2-4 p.m.
Nov. 23 in the Fine Arts Gallery. The event is free and open to
the public.
Featured alumni artists
are Belinda Compotaro, master of arts 2000; Marilyn Ivy, MA 2000;
Merry Furher, master of fine arts 2000; Joseph Melancon, MFA 2000;
Michele Mikesell, bachelor of fine arts 2002; Wanda Raymond, MFA
2001; Marie Renfro, MFA 1995; and Teresa Traweek, BFA 1992.
The artists’ work
ranges from abstraction, expressionism, collage and assemblage to
hyperrealism. The exhibition was organized and curated by Gary Washmon,
professor of painting at TWU.
